Ducati presents the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini

Ducati presents the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini

The first motorcycle born from the collaboration between Ducati and Lamborghini: a Diavel 1260 inspired by the Lamborghini Siàn FKP 37
The Diavel 1260 Lamborghini will be produced in a numbered limited edition of 630 units
The bike is characterized by having forged wheels with a new design that explicitly recall those of the car, a new carbon bodywork and a special livery with the colours of the Siàn FKP 37

Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 25 November 2020 - The Ducati World Première web series arrives at its fourth episode, during which the Bologna motorcycle manufacturer has unveiled the new Diavel 1260 Lamborghini.
To be made in a limited and numbered edition of 630 units, the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini is born from the collaboration between two prestigious brands that have their roots in the Motor Valley, the Emilia-Romagna land within which can be found many of the sportiest and most desired car and motorcycle companies in the world.

Unconventional, unique, absolutely unmistakable: the Diavel 1260 is the model of the Ducati range that amazes enthusiasts everywhere for its personality, its naked sports road behaviour, its thoroughbred sports engine and its design.

To carry out this project, Ducati designers chose to be inspired by the Siàn FKP 37, the most prestigious car ever made by Lamborghini: available in only 63 units, each of which personalized to specific customer requests, it is a masterpiece of exclusivity, design and innovation. It is inspired by the Countach, has razor-sharp lines, aerodynamic elegance and an unmistakable silhouette. Producing combined thermal and electric power of 819 hp (602 kW), the Siàn FKP 37 is the most powerful Lamborghini ever produced.

"In creating a Diavel inspired by the Siàn, we are celebrating the values we share with Lamborghini: we are Italian, we are sporty, and design is a distinctive element for our creations," says Andrea Ferraresi, Director of the Centro Stile Ducati.  "The Diavel 1260 Lamborghini was designed using the same stylistic language that distinguishes the super sports car, so we have redesigned the elements that most characterize the Diavel. For example, the rims, which are a fundamental component for a motorcycle like this, are forged and immediately bring the bike close to the car. The entire bodywork was made of carbon fibre, a precious and light material. The result is a bike with a great stage presence, a true collector's item from the point of view of style and a 100% Diavel in riding."

"We are convinced that our design is strong and one of the most recognizable in the automotive sector," says Mitja Borkert, Head of Design of Automobili Lamborghini.  "The unique silhouette, clean but extremely distinguished, defines

Polaris Chairman and CEO Scott Wine to leave for new challenge at end of 2020

Polaris Chairman and CEO Scott Wine to leave for new challenge at end of 2020

Minneapolis based Polaris Industries Inc., the parent company of Indian Motorcycle and market leading snowmobile, ATV/UTV and PWC manufacturer, has confirmed that long-time CEO and Chairman Scott Wine has decided to leave the company at the end of December to take up the CEO position at Case New Holland - the London headquartered, NYSE traded $28bn a year turnover agricultural equipment and On-Highway transport vehicle manufacturer.

As Chairman and CEO of Polaris, Scott Wine oversaw the acquisition of Indian Motorcycle and saw annual sales more than triple in his twelve years from $1.9bn to around $7bn.

Wine, 53 and a former U.S. Navy officer, joined Polaris twelve years ago. He steered Polaris through the 2008-2010 global financial crisis and has masterminded sales growth in that time from some $1.9bn to around $7bn last year - higher than primary motorcycle rival Harley-Davidson - and establishing Polaris as a global powersports industry powerhouse.
The growth propelled Polaris into the Fortune 500 (PII) and established the company as America's leading powersports industry manufacturer. It was under Wine's management that Polaris bought Indian Motorcycle in 2011. Wine drove a strong, some would say aggressive, mergers and acquisitions programme during his time. He leaves Polaris with a portfolio of 30+ active brands and having just pushed the button on an innovative relationship with Zero to drive vehicle electrification across several Polaris markets.

"For the last twelve years, I have had the extraordinary honour of leading the best team in powersports, and it is incredibly rewarding to reflect on all that we have accomplished together," said Wine. "I am most proud of the team and the culture that have made working here so gratifying. Having witnessed first-hand the ingenuity, passion and drive that permeates the company, I leave with complete confidence that Polaris' future is bright. I also want to offer my sincere thanks to my incredibly talented colleagues and to the Polaris Board for their guidance and leadership during my tenure."

Project 21: 2-in-1 Clubstyle/Performance uitlaat

"Your riding style might get you in trouble… your exhaust won't!"

VIDEO: Dr. Jekill & Mr. hyde presenteert: 'Twenty-One'.

Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde - 'Project 21' - Electronically Adjustable 2:1 'Clubstyle' M-8 Exhaust

Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde - 'Project 21' - Electronically Adjustable 2:1 'Clubstyle' M-8 Exhaust

Famous for its EU approved electronically adjustable exhaust systems, Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde (J&H) has a new Clubstyle 2:1 that is the result of "months of design, prototyping and testing," according to J&H's Sjoerd Ottenheim, the Product Manager for the project. "Finally we are ready to present the 'Twenty-One' - a unique and electronically adjustable 2:1 exhaust for Milwaukee-Eight Softail models."

Staged at the Venray Circuit in the Netherlands (formerly known as Circuit de Peel), the launch took place with the unveiling of a new project bike and group of Clubstyle motorcycles that showcased the sound of the exhaust - "a full, deep sound," says Sjoerd.
“The Twenty-One produces a sound that really takes the power of the M-8 engine to new heights - it really is a surprise, and the better feedback from the exhaust really enhances the riding experience. It challenges the rider to demand that little extra from the M-8, and the 'Twenty-One' delivers.
"The exhaust has been subjected to extensive sound tests to create this exceptional sound experience. It has been designed with input from a specific group of performance and Clubstyle riders.

"First as a design in the computer, then as a 3D model, after which we could proceed to make a prototype. There was more to making this exhaust than just the sound of course. While sound management is what we here at J&H are best known for, the materials, the finish, the emissions and the power, in terms of hp and torque, all influenced the development and the final result

“The headers and muffler are made of stainless steel to achieve the balance between performance and legal requirements. There are different color end cap options available, all specially developed for the M-8, but we also expect to be able to evolve this first M-8-specific 'Twenty-One' for additional models in the future - additional Harleys and other brands too."
The 'Secret Sauce' that J&H brings to exhaust sound management is its unique electronically controlled and handlebar-operated valve system.

"Our exhaust systems embody three different personalities: the Dr. Jekill mode, Dynamic mode and Mr. Hyde mode. With a simple push of a button, the valve that is placed halfway up the muffler closes or opens, which provides more sound and performance. According to the riding circumstances you can choose whether you are in the Dr. Jekill mode (mild), Dynamic mode (responsive) or Mr. Hyde mode (not so mild!). The rider decides.
"Either way, the Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde exhaust is a completely street legal system and complies with European legislation and laws - in short, while your riding style might be able to get you into trouble, with J&H the exhaust can't!"
The production edition 'Twenty-One' will be available in heat resistant brushed or matte black finish and offered for M-8 Softails.

MAHLE invests around EUR 3 million in new test bench in Stuttgart

Testing and development of e-axles and e-drive units for electric and hybrid vehicles

Successful completion of first customer project

MAHLE’s head of development, Martin Berger: “With this new test bench, MAHLE continues the targeted expansion of its global range of services for e-mobility.”

MAHLE has commissioned a test bench for electric drives in Stuttgart/Germany. This equipment will be used to develop and test e-axles and e-drive units for a wide range of electric and hybrid vehicles. The first test on a unit was successfully performed on behalf of a customer just a few days ago. MAHLE has invested around EUR 3 million in the new facility. The e-test bench marks another milestone in MAHLE’s technological transformation.

“With the commissioning of the test bench, MAHLE continues the targeted expansion of its global range of services for e-mobility,” says Dr. Martin Berger, Vice President Corporate Research and Advanced Engineering at MAHLE. “Both our customers and our developers can now benefit from an ultramodern facility, which is one of only very few in Germany.”

In future, the new e-test bench in Fellbach will be used on behalf of international customers to carry out functional development work, simulate highly dynamic, transient modes of operation, perform efficiency measurements and torque vectoring, and simulate wheel slip scenarios. Operating map application and data population, testing of high- and low-voltage systems, and the investigation of thermal influences are also among the scope of services.

The test facility includes an e-axle unit consisting of two oppositely mounted load machines equipped with permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. Thanks to a nominal power handling of 350 kW per dynamometer and an impressive peak torque handling capacity of 8,400 Nm, the setup boasts formidable performance data. Separate battery simulators for applications ranging from 48 V to 1,000 V and a high-speed power analyzer system allow for performance mapping, performance characterization, and efficiency studies to be carried out.

In addition, the new facility has a high-performance thermal conditioning system that provides a temperature range from –30oC to +130oC for the accurate simulation of vehicle operating conditions. This ensures that the drives tested in the facility will function reliably under the widest variety of climatic conditions around the world. The time an e-drive spends on the test bench depends on the specific customer requirements and ranges from around 200 hours to test individual functions through to a whole year when endurance testing is required.

MAHLE Powertrain’s test bench facilitates the accurate testing of electric drives, ensuring that electric vehicles are safe and reliable

All the key data from the test setup is collected in the control room
