CUSTOM BIKES NEW TRENDS -Part 3 Paint No More?!

CUSTOM BIKES NEW TRENDS -Part 3 Paint No More?!

Grey, bare metal or brushed aluminum - is that the trend today?

We just photographed all the AMD World Championship competitors at the Intermot in Cologne, and more than 25% of them have bare metal, aluminum or partly painted bikes.

Some say it’s dull, boring. Some say it’s because the trend today seems more and more to have classic, old-looking or retro bikes in each class. Remember the ‘Silent Gray Fellows?
But another thing to consider is this; naked bikes do not have paint to cover up mistakes, bad welding or crooked lines. No hiding shitty work this time. It is what it is. And there's something else; with no screamin’ ‘pain-in-your-eyes’ paintjobs, the flowing lines and especially the details come out much better.

Clean bikes is the trend, paintjobs are less important than good engineering, although of course there’s always good combinations of both possible.
Check out the images of the gas tanks in grey. They are all in the AMD World Championship Custom Bike Builder 2016 bike show at the Intermot in Germany. Out of the 100 bikes, 26 are grey.
Is Grey the new Black? It seems so. Let me know what you think.

More grey tanks after the jump-break
