Harley-Davidson has stepped up to the plate for INTERMOT this year. The company has massively increased the size of its usual booth and added a second one in the INTERMOT Customized Hall (Hall 10) adjacent to the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building.

Their mission is to showcase their ‘Dark Custom’ program as a specific “sub-brand” dedicated to the “riders who are looking for the unique ‘Reduced to the Max’ stripped down contemporary look of a platform that is built for customizing,” according to Daniel Becker, the Marketing Project Manager for the Dark Custom program at Harley-Davidson GmbH.

Versatility of their ‘Dark Custom’ Street, Sportster and Dyna platforms (adjacent to the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building in Hall 10) will showcase dealer customized examples from this year’s ‘Custom Kings’ contest as well as the “Reduced to the Max” stock platforms 

The 240 sq m (2,580 sq ft) booth will showcase all seven models of Harley’s current ‘Dark Custom’ line-up – the 750 Street, 883 Iron, ‘48’ and new Roadster Sportsters, plus the ‘Dark Custom’ Street Bob, Fat Bob and recently launched Low Rider S Dynas.
Additionally, the booth will showcase examples from this year’s ‘Custom Kings’ dealer competition in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
This year’s chosen platform for the contest was the Sportster Iron, with a customizing budget set at around € 4.000,00 (US$4,500,) half of which had to be spent on product from Harley’s own ‘Dark Custom’ P&A offer, the other half could either be factory P&A or aftermarket parts and accessories.

“The booth design process has been fun,” says Daniel. “Because our range is so broad, it isn’t often that we are able to dedicate such a large space to a specific platform, to a specific look and feel. I guess “shabby chic” might be one way of describing the look we are presenting – personally I prefer to think of it simply as just plain “cool”. Something that is on the cutting-edge of current consumer taste, especially among the new generation of riders that we are attracting – riders who will be an important part of the industry’s future, and riders who have a very new series of attitudes to the motorcycle ownership and riding experience.
“With our ‘Dark Customs’ we think we are “with them” when it comes to meeting those expectations and able to provide the kind of versatile yet contemporary design ethos they are looking for.
“If our sales in Europe are anything to go buy, we do appear to be right in the “sweet spot” with the ‘Dark Customs’, and the results our dealers have achieved in this year’s ‘Custom Kings’ competition show that our dealers understand what riders are looking for.”

HILLS RACE 2016 Italy


From the 2nd to the 4th of September, Rivanazzano Terme (Pv) - ITALY 
Drag racing event for American and Volkswagen cars only.
Adrenaline, engines and a timeless passion.

Pavia, August 2016. A vintage and genuine automobile acceleration event among the wonderful Italian hills. And that’s it. We are talking about Hills Race 2016, the thirteenth edition of the dragster race for American and Volkswagen air-cooled cars only. The appointment will take place in Rivanazzano Terme (Pavia – Italy) from the 2nd to 4th of September.
Imagine ... the long asphalt of the airport, 402,33 meters or a quarter of a mile long, hills and vineyards everywhere, the natural scenery of the Oltrepò that stands and meets with surprising harmony, one of the most important drag racing competition in Italy. And all around, it will take place the event: the vintage flavour of metal, Harley-Davidson bikes, exposition of classic cars and muscle cars, pin up, beards and live music. 

During the race event, the small airport closes and turns into a real drag strip. Paddocks are open and reachable for the visitors, national and international teams position their trucks along the airport areas.  Not far, there is the strip with the legendary traffic light "Christmas Tree" with the burnout area for traction improving and the starting line. Two large grandstands for over 1,700 places offer the opportunity to follow the short, straight course of the race.
In the hangar area and the surrounding areas are set up stands with vendors of various kinds: American clothing, gifts, car and motorcycle spare parts. Next, there is the food area with different proposals. Everything is planned to live the experience of the event from Friday morning to Sunday evening. The sound of the engines and the smell of burning rubber will complete the right atmosphere.

The program begins on Friday (2nd September) at 9:00 with the opening of the gates, technical checks, and from 14.30, the first official race tests. At 19:00, the night show along the strip. Saturday (3rd September) is dedicated to qualifications until 19.30. At 19:30 races stops and the strip becomes a big stage for the Dragster & Stunt Night Show. On Sunday the program continues with the first eliminations at 9:15 and 10.45; a stop at 16.00 for the last big show and then the semi-finals and finals.

Free Style; Anything goes, 2 or 3 wheel drivetrain / chassis motorcycle configurations as defined by the DMV. The only limitation is the builder's imagination and resources. Winner goes to AIMExpo's Championship of Americas competition.

Retro Custom; Must have a Pre - 84 any brand OEM engine, replica engines are not allowed. Custom or stock modified frames are acceptable. Must be a 2 or 3 wheel motorcycle configuration as defined by the DMV.

Street Custom; Must have a major OEM engine and frame. Neck may be cut to rake or stretch frame. Hard tail sections and wide tire kits are acceptable. Must be a 2 or 3 wheel motorcycle configuration as defined by DMV. Baggers are allowed in this class.

Perfomance Custom; Must have engine and/or suspension upgrades. Does not have to be street legal. Modified or competition specific frames and stretched swingarms are acceptable. All forms of competition (drag racing, class C, road racing and off road) 2 and 3 wheel motorcycles are acceptable. 
"THE" HARLEY EVENT - This is an exciting event and all the bikes will be in the big tent on the Harley-Davidson Museum campus.

RIJSWIJK (23 augustus 2016) – Het volledig nieuwe Harley-Davidson® Milwaukee-Eight™-motorblok, de negende opeenvolgende iconische Big Twin van het merk, levert meer vermogen en een betere rijervaring voor rijder en passagier, met behoud van de iconische look, sound en feel van zijn voorgangers. Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114 (114 CID,1870cc) met vloeistofgekoelde cilinderkoppen voor de CVO™ Limited en CVO™ Street Glide® modellen.

Meer vermogen
Iedere Milwaukee-Eight produceert tot elf procent meer koppel dan zijn voorganger in dat Touring-model (varieert per model). Behalve een grotere motorinhoud heeft de Milwaukee-Eight een hogere compressieverhouding en vierkleps cilinderkoppen met vijftig procent meer inlaat en uitlaat flowcapaciteit. De kleppen hoeven nooit te worden vervangen, omdat dankzij het design van de tuimelaars de klepspeling in de fabriek voor altijd juist gesteld kan worden. Dubbele bougies in iedere cilinder zorgen voor een efficiëntere verbranding. Een met een enkele riem aangedreven nokkenas is lichter, mechanisch minder complex en vermindert wrijving en



H-D introduceert het Milwaukee-Eight-motorblok, haar 9de Big Twin, en nieuwe vering op de 2017-modellen.

More Power  

Each Milwaukee-Eight engine produces up to 11 percent more torque than the engine it replaces in Touring models (varies per model). In addition to increased displacement, the Milwaukee-Eight engine features a higher compression ratio and four-valve cylinder heads with 50 percent more intake and exhaust flow capacity. The valve train requires no adjustment as the design of the rocker arms enables valve lash to be set at the factory for life.
